Shock as expert says Brit cops ‘wasting time’ searching for Maddie – because ‘she’s dead’

A TOP criminal profiler has said Brit police searching for Madeleine McCann were “wasting time and money” because “she is dead”.

VANISHED: Maddie disappeared almost 10 years ago

Pat Brown, 62, who runs her own crime agency in the US, said she had analysed the youngster’s 2007 disappearance from her parents’ holiday flat in Portugal.

The author and TV crime analyst said: “Madeleine is dead. There is no point in spending all this money as nothing they do is going to make that child alive.

“It’s my belief the body was moved to a desolate location and will never be found.”

HOPE: Maddie's parents continue to believe she is still alive

Ms Brown, who has written a book called Profile Of The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann, blasted the Met’s £12million six-year investigation.

The Home Office has given the Met an extra £85,000 to continue investigating for at least another six months.

Police revealed the probe was focused on a single “person of interest”, a worker at the McCanns’ Praia da Luz resort.

Ms Brown said: “There are children missing in the UK who aren’t getting this attention.”

Her claims were backed yesterday by criminologist Moita Flores, who was involved in the original police investigation.

He said he had “no doubt” the youngster was dead and felt cash should be used on a reconstruction of the night Madeleine vanished as “it is the only way to resolve the case’’.

Madeleine’s doctor parents Kate, 49, and Gerry, 48, who are facing the 10th anniversary of her disappearance on May 3, continue to believe she is still alive.

SICK MADDIE CLAIMS Portuguese crime expert launches vile attack on Kate and Gerry McCann over their daughter’s disappearance

Moita Flores says he has 'no doubt' Maddie died inside the holiday flat

MADELEINE McCann’s parents are facing fresh misery as a Portuguese crime expert spouts further outrageous claims over their daughter’s disappearance.

Kate and Gerry McCann, who are bracing themselves for the painful decade milestone since she vanished, have been at the centre of cruel criticism in recent weeks.

Maddie’s parents have always faced intense scrutiny since their
daughter disappeared after leaving her alone on holiday

But the latest vile attack comes from criminal investigator Moita Flores who has lashed out against the toddler’s parents, saying: “Maddie died in that apartment, I have no doubt.”
Flores, also a writer and commentator, was once attached to the Policia Judiciaria involved in the search for Maddie.

His shocking outburst comes as police hunt for a worker from the Algarve resort they believe has clues about her disappearance.

Today McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell told The Sun Online: “Kate and Gerry will not be fuelling any of this pure speculation with any comment whatsoever.”

Criminal investigator Francisco Moita Flores has launched a fresh attack on Maddie’s parents

His comments were reported on a Portuguese website yesterday, where Flores asked: “Why this child when there are so many others who have disappeared?

He was referring to ex-GP Kate, 49, and heart doctor Gerry, 48, whose three-year-old daughter vanished from the family’s apartment in Praia da Luz while they were dining nearby with pals dubbed the “Tapas Seven.”

The McCanns recently lost their court appeal to silence ex-cop Goncalo Amaral who claimed they covered up their daughter’s death

His views echo those of retired Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amaral who recently won a long-running libel battle against the McCanns on appeal.

Knocking down the abduction theory Flores added: “ It would have been impossible to get through a window with a child.”

Kate and Gerry McCann are facing fresh heartache in the
lead up to the decade anniversary of Maddie’s disappearance

Mr Flores is now urging British police to put some of their new £85,000 Home Office cash boost towards conducting a reconstruction in the resort.

He said: “It is the only way to resolve the case.”

Ex-cop Mr Amaral, who led the initial hunt for Maddie, has previously called for her parents and their holiday friends to fly to Portugal to relive the fateful night in May 2007.

He has always stated a full reconstruction could produce a vital breakthrough in the £13 million Scotland Yard investigation.

Ten years on from their daughter Maddie’s disappearance, Kate and Gerry have said that a police reconstruction after so many years would be “pointless.”

Mr Amaral, who wrote a controversial book about the case based on publically-released police files, previously said: “Reconstructions are very helpful and I believe a full one in this case could be very productive.

"We seem to be getting towards the end of the Operation Grange inquiry, the last roll of the dice, so what is there to lose?”

Glamour model Jodie Marsh launched an astonishing
Twitter tirade against Maddie's parents
A McCann source today rubbished Mr Flores' comments.

He said: “There is no proof that Madeleine died in the holiday apartment or anywhere else, and until there is any shred of evidence her parents believe their daughter could still be alive.”

Referring to Mr Flores, the source added: “This person is presenting himself as a criminal expert and is regurgitating claims made by Mr Amaral, he is repeating all the old assertions it seems for shock value.

“Kate and Gerry took legal action against Mr Amaral and they won the case, although they later lost it on appeal.

"They don’t want to be litigious, and they can’t sue everyone, but it appears that people are saying whatever they like.”

The couple, from Rothley, Leics, have been subjected to a torrent of criticism this month.

LBC radio host and Social commentator Katie Hopkins, glamour model Jodie Marsh, MP’s estranged wife Karen Danczuk have all cruelly criticised them while on Monday retired Met Police officer Sue Hill slammed on breakfast TV the extra funding they were receiving as a waste of taxpayer’s money.

Location Location Location's Kirstie Allsopp says
the McCanns are being 'vilified'

While TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp has defended Kate and Gerry, saying she thinks it was "OK" to leave their kids sleeping while out at a restaurant.

And while presenting Good Morning Britain this week, Piers Morgan sparked outrage defended the extra £85,000 fund to extend the case for another six months.

‘The only Madeleine McCann theory that stacks up’

Megan Palin, news.com.au

A CRIME expert who has analysed the high profile case of missing child Madeleine McCann claims the three-year-old was not abducted.

Investigative Criminal Profiler and Profile of the Disappearance of Madeleine McCann author Pat Brown told news.com.au that Scotland Yard bungled the investigation and slammed the crime fighting agency for “wasting time and money” on Madeleine’s case.

“Madeleine is dead,” Ms Brown said.

What happened to Madeleine McCann?

“There’s no point spending all of this money as nothing they do is going to make that child alive.”

While profiling the case, Ms Brown developed a theory about what happened to Madeleine.

“When I do a crime scene analysis it is a theory based on evidence to then be given to police and used to look for more proof and evidence suitable for prosecution,” she said.

“When I analysed (Madeleine’s) case, it led me to believe evidence does not support an abduction.

“An abduction was extremely unlikely based on the amount of time, evidence at the scene, and every other shred of evidence there has ever been.”

Ms Brown said Madeleine most likely died an accidental death that was “covered up”.

“The evidence supports the theory of an accident occurring through neglect and possible medication,” she said.

“It’s my belief the body was moved to a desolate location and will never be found.”

Ms Brown’s comments come after British police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann nearly 10 years ago were last week granted STG85,000 ($A136,935) to extend the search for a further six months.

The British Home Office has granted officers the funds to continue the probe until September.

There is one person who was near the area where Madeleine went missing who police want to speak to, the Sunday Express reported.

To date a total of STG11.1 million ($A17.9 million) has been spent looking for Madeleine.

“There are other children missing in the UK who aren't getting this attention that the money should have been spent on,” Ms Brown said.

Madeleine disappeared from the family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal as her parents Kate and Gerry McCann dined with friends at a nearby restaurant in May 2007. If alive, Madeleine would now be 13 years old.

Ms Brown said Scotland Yard investigators made a mistake by ruling out suspects early on.

“You only eliminate someone as a suspect if they have an alibi and could absolutely not have committed the crime,” she said.

“It shouldn’t be based on theories.”

Ms Brown said the biggest mistake investigators made was examining and reviewing the case working to the theory that Madeleine had been abducted.

“They came in with a purpose and stated there was an abductor,” she said.

“Their focus was on finding a kidnapper.”

Ms Brown said there was “no evidence of an abduction” but that didn’t mean it hadn’t occurred.

“On the other hand it doesn’t mean it did,” she said.

“But because there’s no evidence of an abduction one has to look at other possibilities as well.”

Ms Brown said it was “extremely unlikely” anyone from a child sex ring would have abducted Madeleine. She said children could be illegally bought in some poor areas or “easily taken from drug addicts and prostitutes”.

“Even blonde ones,” she said.

‘They’re not going to steal a British tourist from a holiday resort because they know that will prompt a major investigation into them.”

Kate and Gerry McCann, have always denied any involvement in her death and vowed to “never give up” hope of finding their daughter.

“As a parent of an abducted child, I can tell you that it is the most painful and agonising experience you could ever imagine,” Ms McCann wrote on the couple’s ‘find Madeleine’ website.

“My thoughts of the fear, confusion and loss of love and security that my precious daughter has had to endure are unbearable — crippling.

“And yet I am not the victim, Madeleine is.

“No child should ever have to experience something so terrible.”

Last month, Kate and Gerry McCann lost their appeal in Portugal’s Supreme Court over a controversial book by former detective Goncalo Amaral called The Truth of the Lie.

In it, he claimed Maddie had “died” and her abduction was a “cover-up”.

Amaral led the initial investigation into Madeleine’s apparent abduction.

The McCanns have lodged a formal complaint against the ruling and are reportedly considering taking their case to the European Court of Human Rights.

The parents are bracing themselves for the heart wrenching 10th anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance in just a few weeks.

CMTV debate on Operation Grange's “new suspect”

by Joana Morais

Police searches Portuguese man
Maddie Case: New Suspect
Former employee was questioned by PJ years ago

Short debate on Operation Grange's “new suspect”. Rua Segura is a daily TV show broadcast by CMTV, presented by Sara Carrilho, where criminal and current issues are debated and analysed. On this episode the program had as guests Carlos Anjos, former PJ inspector and former head of the Criminal Investigation Officers' Union and Rui Pereira, former Minister of Internal Affairs.

Sara Carrilho - Scotland Yard is searching for a former Ocean Club worker, the tourist resort in Praia da Luz from where Madeleine McCann disappeared in May 2007. The British authorities wish to question this man who they believe may provide for new leads concerning the disappearance.

News segment (unknown voice over) - After nine years there's a new suspect in the Maddie McCann case. This time, the line of enquiry of the British authorities pursues a former employee of the Ocean Club, the resort in Praia da luz, in the Algarve, where the English family were holidaying when Maddie disappeared in 2007. Scotland Yard wants to question again the former worker who may be of Portuguese nationality and hasn't yet been located. However, this man had already been questioned by the Judiciary Police (PJ) in 2007, this, because the man in question took part in a burglary in the ocean Club at the lunch time, on the same day that Madeleine disappeared. Even though this man is not being investigated as the abductor he may provide new leads concerning this case. The investigation that would have ended in April will be extended until September. The Sun tabloid advanced that for the investigation of the British authorities to continue a new fund of 96 thousand euros was granted. This new lead is considered to be the last opportunity in the investigation to find Maddie McCann, an investigation of the British authorities that has been ongoing for the past nine years (Op. Grange started in 2011), whose costs have surpassed 14 million euros.

Sara Carrilho - Carlos Anjos, this may be the last opportunity to do something in this investigation opened by the English authorities. Yet this man, this former worker the British police are seeking now had already been questioned in 2007.

Carlos Anjos - What new lead, opportunity? We are 10 million citizens, they have plenty of suspects to find here in Portugal, this is only just one more. I'm not even going to say that this is playing with the investigation, it's just shocking. At the time the police identified a series of people, over two dozen, to establish why they were there and this man was one of them. People that didn't have to be in there, that weren't from that area, or didn't live there and this was done using various techniques, there was a wide-sweeping search of cell phones of people that were in that area, everything was tried, then the police arrived to those individuals. This man worked at the Ocean Club, it is said (referring the news segment) that it's not known whether he is Portuguese or not, actually he is Portuguese, and it is not true either that he has vanished, he might not have a fixed address because he might be without a home, given the miserable life that he has. This man committed a crime of burglary in the morning, close to noon, at a time the child was in the beach with the mother, and the father. The disappearance takes place in the night, when the parents were, excuse my expression, soaking at the table, emptying bottles of wine. So, they want to connect a man who burgled a handful of things from a bedroom, a theft of opportunity since the tourists had left the door unlocked, if not mistaken German tourists, when they were all in the beach - any one of us was lucky to not have been there that day, in the Ocean Club, otherwise Scotland Yard would easily, just because we had red socks or something equally absurd, constitute us as arguidos and make us suspects of the death. This investigation is a tragedy, is a bottomless bag (endless supply), and it's a tragedy. It's a tragedy that we don't know what happened to Maddie, but above all is the careless way they say they have a new suspect. But what new suspect? The man as already been heard, he has already explained...

Sara Carrilho - What is certain is that vast amounts of money are given to this investigation.

Carlos Anjos - ... Worse than that, it is already known where he was at the time of the crime. That is, even though he committed the burglary, he was eliminated because at that time - this is something that I don't understand, I don't understand this investigation, it has nothing to do with a criminal investigation, but what should be considered is the time frame. The last time Maddie McCann was seen alive was at 17:30, that's the hour she leaves the children's playground area and returns home with her mother, from then on she never appeared. Later the alert is given by the mother upon returning to the apartment and where she doesn't find the child, roughly about 10:30 at night, 22:30. So, the time period in which the crime occurs, what happened exactly we don't know but whatever happened took place between 17:30 and 22:30, the events took place during this time frame of five hours. At that time the man was somewhere else, actually far away from there. They cannot justify, that just because the man committed a crime of burglary at noon and since they don't have anyone else the guy of the noon robbery will do, this is wanting to place the suspect at the crime scene, this is wanting to forcefully place the blame. I just don't understand this investigation... What is certain is that this is a horn of plenty, where several millions have already been spent, this latest 96.000 euros will no doubt allow for another team of brilliant investigators to be lodged at a 5 star hotel because there's money to pay for that, and when this man is discarded... The PJ investigation spoke of three dead men, and all those were investigated, so there are no more dead men left to be accused as suspects because those would be the ideal suspects since they cannot defend themselves.
