A TOP criminal profiler has said Brit police searching for Madeleine McCann were “wasting time and money” because “she is dead”.

VANISHED: Maddie disappeared almost 10 years ago

Pat Brown, 62, who runs her own crime agency in the US, said she had analysed the youngster’s 2007 disappearance from her parents’ holiday flat in Portugal.

The author and TV crime analyst said: “Madeleine is dead. There is no point in spending all this money as nothing they do is going to make that child alive.

“It’s my belief the body was moved to a desolate location and will never be found.”

HOPE: Maddie's parents continue to believe she is still alive

Ms Brown, who has written a book called Profile Of The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann, blasted the Met’s £12million six-year investigation.

The Home Office has given the Met an extra £85,000 to continue investigating for at least another six months.

Police revealed the probe was focused on a single “person of interest”, a worker at the McCanns’ Praia da Luz resort.

Ms Brown said: “There are children missing in the UK who aren’t getting this attention.”

Her claims were backed yesterday by criminologist Moita Flores, who was involved in the original police investigation.

He said he had “no doubt” the youngster was dead and felt cash should be used on a reconstruction of the night Madeleine vanished as “it is the only way to resolve the case’’.

Madeleine’s doctor parents Kate, 49, and Gerry, 48, who are facing the 10th anniversary of her disappearance on May 3, continue to believe she is still alive.
