Oi! You Lot, Yes You, Channel 4 Cutting Edge, You're a Disgrace

And you surely are, if this is your best effort you need to be looking for a new career.

Not content that you produce this piece of fantasy fiction you actually compound your errors, deliberate or otherwise, and overwrite on the film something that is so blatantly untrue it staggers the imagination.

Was it your intention to deliberately mislead the public or are you just not fit to be put in charge of a camera?

Jane Tanner's statement clearly puts McCann and Wilkins on the opposite side of the road to what you depict, as does her sketch, as does Wilkins sketch, as does Wilkin's statement.

You are a disgrace to your profession and a disgrace to Channel Four.

You can find Tanner's statement at the bottom of the page.

Jez Wilkins statement:

I met him near the stairs of a ground floor. There was a gate leading up to some stairs. I was pretty certain that he had left the apartment. We spoke for a few minutes. He said you're on walking duty. I said I was staying in and pros and cons and what to do with the children.

I have drawn a map of the complex and marked an X where I saw Jerry on Thursday evening ' JW 1. I have also produced a map, from the holiday brochure also with an X where I saw Jerry on Thursday ' JW 2.'

Voice over:
However, Jane and Gerry remember the scene differently.

I'll bet they do.

It would be a cold day in hell before you would catch me watching this kind of drivel, but for the purpose of this article I viewed it on line where fortunately I could push it on to the relevant parts.

In doing so I missed much of the who's who and initially thought the guy above was the film maker. only later to discover that this pseudo authoritarian figure was in fact McCann's creature.

Thinking about your statement and sketch Jane?

As you acquiesce.

That's it be a good girl and listen to the men.

Lots of bright lights and Tanner has zoom eyes!

And then we have the re-construction, carried out in more realistic conditions I would have thought and in accordance to statements given to the police by Tanner.

Only trouble is it don't really work does it Jane? little wonder we were treated the the McCann version.

And finally we have a depiction of Gerry's little trip to the beach.

Part of Tanner's rogatory interview.

4078 “From what I know from reading statements, Gerry was still absent?”
Reply “He wasn’t there at that point, no, no. So, erm, then I walked, so I just walked out the, erm, the Ocean Club bit and walked, sort of walked up the road. And then Gerry was there, he was talking to Jez WILKINS in the road, well they were sort of, as I went by. So I think I thought then ‘Oh that’s why Jez’, not Jez, ‘That’s why Gerry has been, you know, that’s why he’s longer than we thought’”.
4078 “Backtrack a little. How long after Gerry had gone was it before you went to do your check?”
Reply “Well I think it must have been, well it must have been at least five minutes, if not more, because, I say, because he was gone, before I actually left there had been the conversations about him being waylaid. So, I mean, if, I think it must have been sort of five or ten minutes, five or ten minutes after he’d gone. I can’t say for sure, but”.
4078 “And from the time when you obviously didn’t feel it appropriate to persuade Russell to go and check”.
Reply “Yeah, it was my turn”.
4078 “From the time you left the Tapas Bar, when you are talking, try and put yourself back there”.
Reply “Umm”.
4078 “It is a long time ago, I know, we have already discussed the feasibility of this. But describe, not just that you saw Gerry up the road, describe what route you take and what you can see and what you can hear and whether it is light or dark and any other noises that you are conscious of”.
Reply “Umm”.
4078 “I know it is a tall order”.
Reply “Yeah”.
4078 “But just do the best you can”.
Reply “Yeah. Erm, I’m just trying to, well I’ve walked out of the, walked out of the, erm, the Tap, you know, walked sort of into the reception of the Tapas Bar and obviously walked up the road. I remember I was wearing, because it was cold, I’d got Russell’s big, I’d borrowed one of his, erm, fleeces, so I’d got a big sort of fleece, it probably came down to about here, but then I’d got flip-flops on and cropped trousers, because I’d only got, I didn’t take jeans, I know I didn’t take jeans on holiday, and then. Oh I’m sidetracking a bit, but that’s why I knew one of the pictures in the paper wasn’t from the holiday, because I hadn’t got jeans on the holiday with me, so. Erm, yeah, and I’d got cropped trousers on and just flip-flops, so I can remember sort of walking, I couldn’t walk that quickly because I’d got these silly flip-flops on and I couldn’t walk that, that well in them, so to speak. Erm, and I walked, I was walking up the road and I can’t remember exactly, I know this, I know, I think Gerry thinks he was somewhere different to where I think they were standing, but I was fairly sure, as I walked up the road, they were standing, one of them was in the road and one of them was just on the edge of the pavement, but I thought it was on the side of the road that I was walking, but I know Gerry thinks they were the other side. But I thought they were closer by, because as I walked by, I almost did go to sort of acknowledge them and I thought at that point ‘Oh they were cha cha cha’ and I did think, you know, I didn’t, I didn’t know whether they’d seen me or not, but I did actually go to acknowledge them and I think if they’d have been that far away I don’t know whether I would have sort of almost gone to say hello, but. But they were talking quite (inaudible), so I just carried on, you know, up, up the road. I mean, I thought they were, as you’re going up here, I thought they were more, erm, again I know this is where me and Gerry differ, but I thought they were sort of more near the little alleyway. I think sort of”.
4078 “Is that the alleyway, sorry, would that be (inaudible)?”
Reply “Yeah, sort of here. I thought they were sort of round this sort of bit here”.
4078 “Yeah, so on the plan that you have drawn can you put a cross where you”.
Reply “Yeah”.
4078 “I know you are uncertain because you think Gerry’s recollection is different, but as far as you can remember”.
Reply “Well I think one of them was in the road and I think, I thought it was Jez in the road because he had the pram. And I don’t know which, I can’t remember which way he was facing. No, I mean, I think I remember in my statement I did say, but I can’t remember now which way he was facing. And I thought Gerry was almost like on the edge of the pavement or just, just in the road sort of, but definitely sort of by that, sort of more by this alleyway. I don’t think they were by the apartment gate, I thought they were sort of a bit further down, down the road than that”.
4078 “So where would the apartment gate be then?”
Reply “Probably here I should think”.
4078 “And that would lead down to the roadside door of their apartment or the poolside door of their apartment?”
Reply “That leads to the poolside door”.
4078 “Right. So you think they were quite a bit further down?”
Reply “I think, yeah, I mean, somewhere within this, I don’t think they were right outside the gate for sure. I don’t, I’m not sure, but they were definitely, I definitely can’t remember them being right over here, purely because I know I did go to acknowledge them and I don’t think if they were over there I would have thought to acknowledge them. Because it was almost like ‘Oh did I ignore them as I walked past’, you know, it was almost that thought in my head, you know, ‘Should I have stopped to say hello’. And now obviously I wished I bloody had. But, you know, sort of, so I think, I, I’m still convinced they were nearer to that side of the road than that side of the road”.
4078 “So you come out of the Tapas Bar and presumably you have walked along that way, have you?”
Reply “Yeah, I’ve come out here, through the gate”.
4078 “And that is up the hill, is it?”
Reply “And up the hill, yeah”.
4078 “And when you have gone past Gerry and Jez whereabouts have they been in relation to you?”
Reply “If I’m walking this way, they were sort of”.
4078 “So they were to your right?”
Reply “Yeah”.
4078 “Okay. Go on”.
Reply “So, yeah, so I went past them, erm, up to the, and then walking up to the top of the road and then, as I got to the top, this person, somebody walked across the top of the road with, with a child. And obviously at that point I just thought ‘Oh it’s somebody taking their kid to bed’, so to speak”.

A three-year-old British girl has gone missing while on a family holiday in Portugal, the Foreign Office said today.

Portuguese police are investigating the disappearance from a holiday complex in Praia da Luz in the western Algarve.

A Foreign Office spokesman said that he understood the girl's parents had gone to have dinner once their children were asleep last night, but returned to check on them only to find the girl had gone missing.

"They reported it straight away," he said, adding that consular assistance was being offered.

And the updated version at 6:10am BST:

Three year-old feared abducted in Portugal

The parents of a British toddler who has gone missing while on holiday in Portugal say they fear she has been abducted.

Three-year-old Madeline McCann disappeared last night from her parent’s rented apartment in the Western Algarve, while they dined nearby.

Sniffer dogs have been brought in by Portuguese detectives to comb the Mark Warner resort where the girl was staying and the nearby seaside village of Praia da Luz.

A family friend said the child’s parents, Gerald and Kate McCann, were certain she had been kidnapped.

Jill Renwick, told GMTV: “They were just watching the hotel room and going back every half-hour and the shutters had been broken open and they had gone into the room and taken Madeleine. They went out about eight, went back in at nine, they were fine, went back in at 10 and she was gone.”

She described the missing girl as a “very pretty, very blonde three-year-old” and said the couple, from Leicester, also had twins.

Ms Renwick said of the holiday: “This is the first time they have done this. They are very, very anxious parents and very careful and they chose Mark Warner because it is a family-friendly resort.”

The manager of the resort, John Hill said around 60 staff and guests at the complex had searched until 4.30am while local police notified border police, Spanish police and airports.

“It was a very emotional and very frantic night and everyone did a fantastic job of getting involved and trying to search the area,” he said. “As you can imagine, Madeleine’s parents are distraught and not doing very well at all.”

He said there was no physical evidence that the girl had been abducted from the apartment while they ate at the tapas restaurant 200 yards away.

“It’s still questionable as to whether it’s an abduction,” he said. “We are hoping that Madeleine is found as soon as possible and safe and well. Everybody here is just wishing that she is found as soon as possible.”

A Mark Warner spokesman said counsellors are being flown out to the resort, which the firm has run for two years, to support the McCanns.

Members of their family would also be flown out if required.

He said: “Our priority is to find the girl and to make sure that the parents are OK and there are masses of people working on that.

“Our staff are looking after them at the moment in whatever way they can but we can only imagine how awful it is for them.

“We are all hoping that she is asleep under a bush somewhere and we will find her soon.”

He said the apartment the family were staying in was surrounded by other apartments, all of which have “quite sophisticated” locks on the doors.

Guests are being asked if they saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, he said, adding that Mark Warner has never had cases of missing or abducted children before.

“We are hoping it’s not that, though,” he said. “It’s the last thing we want but we have to investigate all avenues.”

He said Mark Warner offers families a baby-sitting service where they can drop off their children for the night.

“Those facilities were available but for whatever reason they were not being used,” he said.

Madeleine lives with her parents, Gerald, a doctor, and Kate McCann, and younger sibling twins in Rothley, Leicestershire.

Neighbour Penny Noble said: “We are absolutely devastated. They are a really nice family and good neighbours.

“They are delightful. We see them take their bikes up and down and going for walks.

“Madeleine is a very happy-go-lucky little girl”.

It is understood Madeleine is due to start at school in September.

In Correio da Manhã (2007-09-14 ):

English: "ENGLISH GOVERNMENT CUTS WITH MCCANN

The first call of Gerry in the night of the crime was for Alistair Clark, a great friend of the times of the university and diplomat next to Gordon Brown. Clark made various contacts to the highest level and - before the Judiciary Policy - already the Sky News and the British ambassador were informed of the abduction.

The ambassador John Buck was in the Algarve and Brown also gave its personal contact to the Maddie's father in the various exchanged phone calls. However, from what the CM has found, the current head of the English government now “will is sufficiently disturbed” with the route of the inquiry and, in the last weekend, he removed his direct link to the couple.

Advertising and speedy inquests were the priorities established in the first hours. And, as the CM already previously advanced, John Buck, the British ambassador in Lisbon, called in the night of 3rd of May directly to Alípio Ribeiro, the national director of the PJ - after all an English girl of three years was abducted in the Praia da Luz.

All the things were set in motion in the following morning, friday, and in that weekend an associate national director of the PJ, Guilhermino Encarnação, announced the journalists to be before a crime of abduction - without any traces or ransom notes.

At the level of the advertising everything ran inside as foreseen and after the Sky News in the Algarve launched the abduction of Madeleine for the World, the case spread to all the international media. It was missing an act at a politic level and Alistair Clark, Gerry's friend from the University of Glasgow - the first one in International Relations and the second in the University of Medicine - was the perfect contact.

Alistair, from whom the CM couldn't contact until the close of this edition, is today a professor in an university in Belfast, Ireland, and also an assessor of the English working government. Gordon Brown was then minister of the Finances and candidate to the place of Tony Blair.

The support of Brown started with the press assessorship, sending to the couple his "right-arm" in Downing Street, Clarence Mitchell.

The ambassador John Buck, meanwhile, was director of the Central Office of Information(COI) of the British Government, to which belongs the Media Monitoring Unit(MMU), then directed by Clarence Mitchell and under direct account to the Minister for the Cabinet Office and the PM.

The route that the inquiry took (of the PJ leads in the last month) left the cabinet of Gordon Brown apprehensive and the first-minister determined to cut to the direct linking to Gerry McCann.

‘Maddie is hidden in plain sight’: Detective who spent three years probing Madeleine McCann's disappearance thinks she is living in the Algarve with no idea who she really is

Former detective Dave Edgar has offered to help find Madeleine McCann

He was hired to investigate after Portuguese police archived the 2007 case

Edgar, 60, said: 'I believe Madeleine is still alive and the case can be solved'

A detective who spent three years looking for Madeleine McCann says he believes she is 'hidden in plain sight' and could still be on the Algarve.
Former Detective Inspector Dave Edgar, 60, is convinced Kate and Gerry McCann were not involved and said the disappearance was intricately planned by a gang of paedophiles.
Madeleine McCann disappeared from Portuguese resort Praia da Luz in May 2007 as her parents were dining at a nearby restaurant.
If she was still alive she would turn 14 in May and may look very different from the little girl on the Missing posters.

Detective inspector Dave Edgar, 60, claims Madeleine McCann's kidnapper told someone
else about the crime and is urging them to come forward with information

Edgar believes the girl could still be alive. If she is, she will turn 14 in May

Madeleine (pictured) was a keen Everton football fan.
She would be 14 in May if she was still alive

Edgar told the Sunday Express: 'There is every possibility that Madeleine is still alive and could be being hidden somewhere.

'When you get up beyond the main strip of the Algarve there’s countless isolated properties where Madeleine could be being held.'

Edgar, who runs Alpha Investigations Group, was hired by the McCanns to look into Madeleine's disappearance.

The Metropolitan Police took over the case in 2011.

Edgar told the Sun last week the £12million Home Office funding given to Scotland Yard to pay for the inquiry was 'not nearly enough for a crime of this complexity and scale'. He added: 'It sounds a lot but it’s not.'

Scotland Yard’s Operation Grange team have been given £85,000 to continue their inquiries until the autumn.

Edgar says there is no evidence to arrest paedophile Raymond Hewlett or Euclides Monteiro, two suspects in the inquiry.

Hewlett died in 2007, aged 64, while Monteiro, 40, died in 2009.

Edgar once said he believed Madeleine was being held in an underground cell or dungeon, like the victims of Josef Fritzl.
